Tender for Batu Kawan Public Market to open soon
Chief Minister Y.A.B. Tuan Chow Kon Yeow announced that the Batu Kawan Public Market, covering 7.7 acres in Bandar Cassia, is currently undergoing land treatment ahead of tender openings expected in December.
Valued at RM60 million, which includes road upgrades, this will be the first public market in Batu Kawan, designed to better serve local residents. The project is anticipated to take 24 months to complete, with Chow expressing hope for a swift timeline due to the community’s pressing need for such facilities.
Currently, residents rely heavily on goods sold from shop houses and unauthorized residential premises. Once the land treatment is complete, a contractor will be appointed, allowing construction of the public market, a hawker complex, and shops to commence as early as 2025.
Chow’s visit to the development site near Jalan Batu Kawan highlighted the project’s significance for enhancing local commerce and improving access to essential goods for the community.
Such back planning and infrastructure at Batu Kawan only open tender in year 2024.

I think you are not in update of Batu Kawan. Now already have Petrol Station, and Hospital coming in. Basic amenities such as?
What do you expect, Bayan Lepas takes more than 30years to become like this, yet still undergo with developing new township.
Batu Kawan is still a baby. But glad to have a person like you anyway. The investment opportunities is for those who had eye-sight and research.
@Jenn Kim

operational only by 2027-28? that is way too slow….
@MajorArches
The petrol station took year for OC, its the procedure, currently already got 1 in operation near the stadium, 1 done built waiting OC since early this year at centre of Bandar Cassia, and another one build in progress near McD.
And the hospital also expect to complete by end of this year.
I don’t know what u mean by Just know how to build build build, if not build then is what lol.
What PDC should expedite building in Batu Kawan is a proper bus station with buses plying within the residential and industrial areas connecting to the surrounding townships. Currently there is no such services.
@Oh nice
Slow?? That’s Malaysia Bolih style. They award the project to contractors who then sub-contract the construction, who may not be financially able to complete their works on time. It’s a joke!
