Key projects addressed at Penang Development Briefing 2024
The urgent need to accelerate the upgrading and expansion of the Penang International Airport (PIA) has been emphasised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The project has been delayed for some time and it is congested.
“Additionally, the Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, which holds significant importance, is progressing smoothly per our plan,” Anwar replied to journalists after attending the Penang Development Briefing 2024 in Komtar yesterday.
Anwar said several issues were highlighted during the meeting.
“The meeting convened to address both delayed projects and those slated for priority attention.
“Among the projects mentioned was the building of a clinic in Bayan Lepas, where an allocation of about RM11 million was set aside,” he added.
Anwar also stressed the collaboration between the state and Federal agencies.
“The meeting also centred on the necessity for driving growth in the industry. The remarkable success and swift implementation achieved by Penang serve as a testament to the high level of efficiency in state administration and management.
“We also stress the need to concentrate on sectors with exceptionally high capabilities, such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology, and microchips, where Penang has garnered international attention and recognition,” Anwar said.

Over 10 years at Bayan Lepas, I just to know that we very lack of clinic, and it’s our major concern, really bravo.

Because madani gomen is water fish waiting to be milked dry by CONtractor…..just take a look at the standard at Gurney Bay, utter disgrace, whoever the gomen official that sign off the CONtractor, shame on you

Bro, alot of infra is built by the developers with conditions, gomen don’t use their money.
Did you ever visited KKM clinic at Bayan Baru or Bayan Lepas for morning sesion and experience your self? For sure we have alot private clinic, but KKM clinic crowred and mainly visited by B40 and also elderly for routine check up.

Yes, I am one of them going for KKM services.
Private or Local KK basically have to wait the same hours as well, but cost wise will be cheaper than Privates Hospital. Yes it is indeed crowded

@Major Arches, with your visit experience to Klinik Kesihatan, I believe you will understand the over crowded situation and any plan to improve the health services will definately appreciated by the overall public especially B40 group and warga emas. I agree the fund allocated should be transparent and we public can questions if suspect any potential misuse of the fund, but any comments to discredit the effort should be supported with fact and data.
Improving the infrastructure in the Bayan Lepas/Relau/Sg Ara area is crucial, especially given the proliferation of high-rise buildings. Despite this development, the existing road network remains outdated, leading to severe congestion. The inconsistent width of roads exacerbates the issue, resulting in frequent traffic bottlenecks and safety hazards. Upgrading the infrastructure in this area is imperative to alleviate congestion and enhance safety for residents and commuters.

Surely I did visit KKM clinic. I can tell every KKM is overcrowded it’s not just Bayan Baru’s privilege.
I’m not trying to discredit the act of having more clinics, but here we are talking about the development of Penang, not some leg pain cure leg, hand pain cure hand solution.
Out of so many problems to solve, they decided to fund a clinic first because that was probably easier to gain votes.
But long-sighted wise so many things ignored.

Yes, I agree with you that we(tax payer) also want the gov to show long term development plan beside the short term project, but your should comment should direct to the point to demand for long term development strategies and not sarcastically down play the effort to solve the current needs for KKM clinic that will benefit to the ppl.

“The Penang government is now evaluating the facilities to be upgraded at the Bayan Lepas Health Clinic (Type 2) after the federal government approved an immediate allocation of RM11 million for the project on Friday (April 5).
He said the clinic should be renovated with several upgrading works to make it easier for residents in the Bayan Lepas area to get public health services as the nearest hospital in the Barat Daya district is in Balik Pulau.
“Specifically, the approved allocation is the reconstruction of only one clinic that is the Health Clinic (Type 2) in Bayan Lepas and there are several other aspects on the site (project) that we need to see before it is finalised in the near future,” he said.
“The clinic is old and in a dilapidated state, so it is time to renovate it for the public’s convenience, afterall if you look at it from a geographical point of view, it is a distance for Bayan Lepas residents to go to the Balik Pulau Hospital (HBP),” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the car park at the health facility was also a challenge for the state government in addition to upgrading the service facilities.
