Landslide at Balik Pulau following continuous rain on Monday

Continuous rain triggered a landslide here near the Falak Sheikh Tahir Centre in Jalan Pantai Acheh in Balik Pulau on Monday (Aug 16).

The southwest district police said a landslide was reported at around 3pm yesterday.

“We advise the public to be careful and be alert to their surroundings, especially at places at risk of landslides,” he said in a statement on Facebook.

Penang infrastructure and transport committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said JKR had dispatched a team to the scene immediately after receiving a report on the incident yesterday.

“The road affected by the landslide has been cleared to allow access to Pantai Acheh for road users,” he said.
