Bukit Mertajam to build a “forest park in the city”, expected to be completed within two years
Penang youth and sports committee chairman, Soon Lip Chee said that the project called “WoodHaven” aims to create a green leisure space with nature near MPSP Sport Complex at Jalan Betek.
“This project is inspired by the Botanical Garden and Youth Park on Penang Island. We hope this project can benefit the local people with a new concept of forest park.”
He said this in his speech at the “WoodHaven” seminar organized by the Penang Stadium Corporation and Open Spaces (PSDKLPP) and the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC).
He hopes that through the seminars, he can get more opinions from the people and create a “forest park in the city” that meets everyone’s expectations.
Penang State Executive Councillor, Chong Eng said that the project will start this year as soon as possible, and the project will be completed within two years, bringing 5 yards of forest park to the local people.
“This was originally a vacant lot. If it can be developed into a place for people to relax, I believe it will be able to make the best use of it. Under the development of the city, it will also take into account the needs of the community.”
In addition, she also hopes that the park will play a role in promoting family harmony, allowing people to relax and share family relationships in this park to enhance family and parent-child relationships and reduce family problems in society.
