It does look like Penang is moving out of the overhang doldrum ? Perhaps, with the recent sterling FDI performance of 13.3 billions (in 9 months!) inflows, Penangites are the real winner comparatively. Hopefully, the development expenditures from the central govt can commensurate accordingly, just to be fair and equitable ?

We’re definitely not out of the woods yet with property glut in PG, it will take at least another 3-5 years, barring unforseen circumstances. Dev fund allocation cannot be done according to FDI/tax contributions from a state, as that will result in the rich getting richer, and the poor falling straight into the longkang (drain), what’s happening now in HK serves as a very good reference to socio-econ dynamics of rich-poor and the impact to social stability.
